Sanlorenzo unveils the flagship of the SL line with asymmetric layout

Press release, 10th December – After having revolutionized nautical design with the launch of the world’s first asymmetrical yacht, Sanlorenzo continues to shape traditional on-board balances, taking the asymmetric concept to new expressive heights: space, comfort, functional quality, great flexibility of use and an effective connection between internal and external volumes are all combined in the SL120Asymmetric yacht, the brand’s new proposal for living that feels like hovering over the sea.

SL120Asymmetric is the name of the new flagship of the asymmetric line by Sanlorenzo, the planning model with a length of 36.92 meters that will make its official debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2021. With this new model, once again Sanlorenzo demonstrates its particular talent for working on the concept of space and shaping it at will, to guarantee maximum on-board livability.

The concept of asymmetry is developed in a new way on the SL120Asymmetric, giving rise to an unprecedented layout that generates greater utilization of internal spaces and improved communication with outdoor zones. On this model, Sanlorenzo has applied the asymmetrical configuration only in the living area of the main deck, extending from the cockpit to the center of the vessel. First of all, this choice permits the expansion of this area of 8 sqm, eliminating the starboard side deck and maximizing connection with the sea by creating an ample dining room on one side, with full-height glazing, and a living area on the other side that opens onto a balcony, thanks to a sliding wall and an openable terrace. It also makes it possible to totally utilize the internal space of the contiguous forward zone, the location of the owner’s cabin which extends for the entire width of the hull.

This new asymmetric layout is possible thanks to the particular design of the side deck which is now placed only on the port side of the main deck, where it flanks the living area as far as the vessel’s midpoint, then leading to the flying bridge and descending into the outdoor lounge at the bow by means of a flight of steps.

Another fundamental design feature of the SL120Asymmetric is the organization of outdoor spaces. The outdoor lounge at the bow, for example, develops on two decks connected by a staircase, with direct access from the owner’s cabin. It is a space of 15 sqm conceived for a range of different uses: while the foredeck is completely outfitted as a large sunbathing area, the upper deck features a table for outdoor dining, which can also be transformed as a sundeck. Furthermore, the C-shaped sofa facing the deckhouse can be replaced with a Jacuzzi.

The full connection with the sea and the livability of the outdoor spaces reach their peak in the stern zone of the lower deck. The garage can be transformed into a marvelous beach club of 45 sqm, thanks to the folding terraces, offering guests exceptional access to the sea “au fil de l’eau.” The concept of the asymmetric line is the result of a meeting of different minds and creative talents: from an original idea of Chris Bangle, the brilliant car designer, to the technicians and designer working in the shipyard, all the way to Bernardo Zuccon of the studio Zuccon International Project, responsible for the external and internal lines of the SL120Asymmetric.
